About Tullamore

Located in the centre of Ireland, Tullamore is the primary town of the Midlands and the administrative capital of County Offaly, as well as a focal point of government decentralisation. It is one of the towns in the Athlone/Tullamore/Mullingar Midlands Gateway within the National Spatial Strategy.

The town has a population of approximately 15,000 in the immediate area and approximately 200,000 people live within a 40 minute drive. The town has the largest demographic in the Midlands region and the strongest population growth in the country, up 12% since the last census in 2002.

With a thriving business, social and sporting life, Tullamore is home to a growing number of indigenous and international companies in the commercial, medical and industrial sectors and offers strong employment prospects and high quality jobs. It is a long established business town, with lots of current and planned development.

Tullamore is well linked with the main cities in Ireland and large neighbouring towns through excellent road, rail and telecommunications networks. Dublin Airport is roughly 90 minutes travelling time. The town’s business and communications infrastructure matches its transport links for high speed and easy access and the Tullamore bypass is scheduled to open in 2009 and will link directly to the main, N6 Dublin to Galway route.

Tullamore and its environs offer visitors numerous leisure and tourist activities and provide the opportunity to explore ancient monastic sites, historic houses, castles and gardens, beautiful walk and cycle ways, magnificent wetlands and wildlife wildernesses, and extensive bog and parkland.
